Argentina Inaugurates First Solar Road

The governor of San Juan, Marcelo Orrego, has inaugurated Argentina's first solar road by lighting up the Avenida de Circunvalación entirely with sustainable energy. This project positions the province at the international forefront of road design.

The initiative, driven by the Provincial Energy Entity (EPSE) and executed by the firm Sergio Chiconi S.R.L., involved the installation of 36 individual 5-kilowatt generators mounted on monopostes along various sections of National Route A014. This infrastructure work generated over 80 jobs for engineers, welders, and technicians, consolidating a positive economic impact in the region.

This thoroughfare has become the first national artery with 100% photovoltaic lighting, representing a structural change in the country's energy infrastructure. With this advancement, San Juan has joined the group of regions using similar technology, such as the Netherlands, South Korea, and California, employing local resources and labor in the process.

"This is not just a project, it's a strategic decision that demonstrates that it is possible to grow while taking care of the environment," highlighted the provincial governor.

"San Juan demonstrates that when there is planning, sustainability ceases to be a discourse and becomes a reality," concluded Orrego.
